Tic Tac, a Locally Enhanced Service, is a teenage information and advice service commissioned by the KCCG and provided by Tamar Valley Health, based at Callington Community College. At the last CQC inspection it was rated as "Outstanding" for the services provided for local young people.
Students are seen for a wide range of health and well-being concerns, including advice on contraception and mental health issues. We are able to provide on-site pregnancy testing, chlamydia screening and condoms, via the C-Card scheme.
Daily sessions are held at lunchtime between 12.20 – 2pm. GPs (2 female and 1 male) are normally available on a Tuesday or Thursday once a week. A Practice Nurse is available on Monday and Friday and the School Nurse on Wednesday. Appointments may be pre booked or on a drop in basis and are managed by the Tic Tac Administrator.
The service is run from a small bungalow close to the entrance of the college. It is quiet and confidential and all consultations are confidential from school and parents unless there is a child safeguarding concern.
